From the Archives: The Jerusalem syndrome

I was just reminded of this brilliant essay written by Andre Glucksmann after the 2006 war with Hezbollah. It is still valid today. The question it tries to answer is, why don't the deaths of Muslims at the hands of other Muslims provoke the same hallucinatory world-wide reactions as do the (usually) defensive killing of Muslims by Israelis?
